GENERA 2023: innovations in photovoltaics and energy storage

The 26th edition of GENERATE It has been carried out from February 21 to 23, 2023 at IFEMA Madrid. Halls 8 and 10 have brought together 385 exhibitors, where Pebblex took place for the first time.

During three days, the International Energy and Environment Fair unveiled the latest news and trends in photovoltaics, energy efficiency, solar photovoltaics, energy storage systems, among others.
in the space of Pebblex, attendees were able to receive personalized technical advice and learn about some of the main products that the company carries.

The star of Smart Storage

One of the novelties presented at Pebblex was the innovation in industrial energy storage solutions by the Norwegian manufacturer pixii, with the presentation of the modular battery PowerShaper2.

The Pixii PowerShaper2 is a fully integrated storage system in the form of a cabinet with batteries and scalable inverters of up to 50kW. Given its intelligent functions, it adapts to the needs of the installation. One of the most relevant is “peak shaving”, which intelligently manages battery charging to reduce power spikes. At the level of electrical parameterization, it allows voltage and frequency regulation, eliminates harmonics and compensates reactive energy, among others.

Innovation and technology in Solar Modules

Count on solar It is one of the first steps in the transition to self-consumption and energy transition. Other of the novelties presented at GENERA 2023, have come from the hand of the French Recom Technologies, with two of its innovative technologies: HJT and Shingled.

The first is found in the bifacial modules Lion. HJT technology consists of a combination of monocrystalline and amorphous silicon cells that allows obtaining a low coefficient of losses due to temperature -0,24% / ºC (something highly valued in countries like ours) compared to mono PERC panels.

The Lion series modules offer a performance of 98,5% in the first year and up to 91,25% at 30 years, with a degradation coefficient ≤0,25% and provide up to thirty years of product warranty.

Furthermore, the Puma modules use Shingled technology, which uses photovoltaic cells and superimposes them one on top of the other to avoid weld joints. In this way, it prevents the generation of hot spots and possible current losses, improving performance and, like the Lion series, with a low coefficient of losses due to temperature -0,34% / ºC.

The performance after the first year of use of the Puma panels is 98,0% and 87,44% when reaching 25 years. This series has a degradation coefficient ≤0,44% and offers a product guarantee of up to 25 years.

Self-consumption with inverters and batteries

At GENERA 2023, the VMC Sunvec hybrid inverters and batteries. Unlike what is usually found on the market, they have a backup system that is connected to the battery and allows it to continue providing power in critical situations, such as a network drop.

The Sunvec H1 It has a single-phase output up to 230V, with 2 MPPT and control of up to 2 strings; Meanwhile he Sunvec H3 It has a 230V single-phase and 400V three-phase output, with 2 MPPT and control of up to 3 strings. Among the main characteristics of the hybrid solar inverters from Sunvec, there are: robust protection against power outages, 0 injection with unbalanced three-phase output and external control with generator.

As for the sunvec batteries, the SUNBAT-30 and SUNBAT-58 models for SUNVEC hybrid inverters have been presented.

LiFePO4 battery SUNBAT-30 of 3 kWh, it has a capacity of 30Ah and a maximum capacity of 12kWh. It comes in a 482,5×471,5x153mm cabinet and has an IP65 protection level.

For its part, the also lithium iron phosphate battery, SUNBAT-58, of 5.8kWh has a capacity of 50Ah, is scalable up to 4 modules and can reach a maximum capacity of 23,2 kWh. Like the previous one, it has a protection level, in this case, IP55, so both can be installed outdoors.
